The past few weeks have ebbed and flowed in unpredictable patterns as the holidays have come and gone.
If you happened to read my last post, you may remember that Reilly has been dealing with some health issues. After a week or so of good health, she unfortunately had a relapse, and spent part of New Year's Eve in the local ER getting checked out.
We have been in excellent hands, under the care of skilled physicians, and are grateful for an absolutely wonderful pediatrician, who has been so very attentive to our sweet girl. After test results came back yesterday, we learned that her infection is being caused by a particularly nasty strain of drug-resistant E. coli. While she is responding well to current treatment, it has pretty much become a waiting game to see if this course will get rid of the infection completely. It has already rebounded once, so the outcome of this round of medication is uncertain.
The bacteria has not entered her bloodstream, which is very good news. Her prognosis is excellent-- it is just a matter of finding a suitable treatment to rid her of the infection once and for all.
I am hoping to post with more frequency soon, and hopefully put up some back dated entries from the holidays as the week unfolds. Until then, please accept my best wishes for a wonderful New Year!
2012 is going to be a wonderful year, I just know it.

Oh, poor Reilly! I hope the docs are able to find the right stuff to really get rid of the infection. Not a fun thing!
ReplyDeleteOh I sure hope she gets better soon. It is really hard to feel sick all the time.
